30 Weeks...

Our little Addie girl is 30 weeks old!

We now have FOUR teeth!  Her fourth tooth FINALLY came in on Monday.  It had been giving her a lot of trouble, because it would look like it was coming and then go back under.  She had one night where she woke up crying because she was in pain...a little Tylenol and all was good in Addison's world!

We have also made some milestones with eating this week! She has now started eating things off her tray. She has had cheerios and other cereals and bananas. Although she has a really hard time with her bananas because they are so sticky! She chews them with her four little front teeth! SO cute!

No, we have not made it to crawling yet...I am hoping soon.  I talked to another mom today who said that they do the rocking for quite a while before crawling and said that she felt like it took forever for her son too!  So I will continue to wait...patiently!!  She is getting so good with playing on the floor for longer periods of time on her own.  She will sit and pull things out of her basket, throw them and lean just about as far as she possibly can to get them (if they are not too far out of reach).  I have found it amazing watching her figure out how to move around.  She is getting pretty graceful when she goes from sitting to her tummy now as well!

As most people know who have met Addie, she is a noise maker!  She loves to squeal and make silly noises with her mouth.  About a month ago she learned that if we tap our hand over her mouth, and she talks, it makes a funny noise and she loves doing it.  This last week she has learned to make the noise all on her own with anything she can find!  She does it with the back of her hand, her toys, your leg or shoulder, and sometimes the arm of the chair you are sitting in.  She taps her mouth and away she goes!  She has also learned how to click her tongue on the roof of her mouth.  She does it when you give her a kiss and I think that she associates that sound with kisses because they are similar.

I almost forgot to mention how she has learned to wave bye, bye.  She did it to her Grandma Jen and Uncle Max one night as we were leaving and she wasn't even encouraged to wave.  It was pretty exciting!  She is still pretty sporadic at waving bye, bye, but we will get there!!

This week Addison has also seemed more attached to her mommy.  She is always checking to see if I am in sight when I am with her and starts to cry when I leave.  Nothing breaks my heart more than to leave her, but I have to get used to it, because I don't leave her that often!  I am hoping this is just another one of those phases babies go through.

All in all it has been a great week.  I just keep thinking about how truly blessed we are to have such a happy and healthy baby girl.  She is the world to us and she is always putting a smile on faces!

We have just a few pictures to share from this week...lol!

You will notice in these next few that we spend a LOT of time outside!  If the weather is nice I take a blanket out and we sit outside and play instead of being stuck inside.  Addison also LOVES to take walks.  On a nice day we usually go out for 2-3 strolls!  I love being home with her, especially when the weather is nice!

Our first encounter with grass and she loved it.  She was pulling it out of the ground and kicking her feet in it.  She even had her first grass stains on her socks when she was all finished!

Sitting like a big girl on the bench...what a cutie!

Addison in her umbrella stroller, which is very handy by the way!

full of giggles...

Addison with her Grandpa Russ.

Addison seems to think that when we get ready for bed it is time to giggle and play.  I think that she just needs to let out the last of her energy before bed!

Addie and Mommy after church on Sunday!

The Garbes Dairy Update:
We now have twelve more cows...woohoo!  Dan had been milking at the farm and commuting from our house which is a bummer.  It will be nice when he can just walk outside and be to work!  Well, at least one of his jobs anyway!  We should have the rest of the herd in the next few weeks!

A New Chapter has Begun...

Just think...what if our lives could be turned into books.  Think of the number of chapters that would exist.  The number of pages written as you go about your day.  I would like to think that at the end of my existence here, I would have a book so filled with 'LIFE' that it would not shut.  Chapters filled with new beginnings and pages filled with love and happiness.  That is the kind of book I am choosing to have written.

Here I am in my life.  Half-way through my twenties, happily married, raising a beautiful daughter, and enjoying the 'LIFE' that fills my book.  I think back on past chapters with smiles, tears, and laughter.  Regretting no part of any of them.  And here we are today beginning a new chapter as our family ventures to the dairy farm!

This is going to be an exciting chapter. My husband Dan has always dreamed that one day his children would grow up on a farm and learn the life of a hard working farmer, just like he did. We are so thrilled to raise Addison and any of our future children on the dairy farm. And so...the chapter begins with five cows. Yes, you read that correctly, five cows. You have to start somewhere, right? Dan went to a sale and just bought five of his herd for now. There will be around 30 more within the next few weeks!  There are so many pages to be written in this chapter of life!

Meet the newest members of the Garbes clan...

Go out and live your chapters! Have a great night!

29 Weeks...

We have SO many reasons to celebrate!  The leaves are on the trees, my tulips are blooming, the sun is out, and Addison is 29 weeks today!

What are we up to at 29 weeks?  LOTS!  We are still working on our crawling.  As I write about her crawling attempts on the blog each week, I think to myself that next week I should be able to report that she is now crawling.  I guess I need to be a little more patient, but she is SO close!  She is up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth, and at some point will decide to take a plunge forward.  She is up on all fours more often this week and sometimes even is up on her toes!  She will get the hang of it one of these days!

This week Addison has gone from our cuddly little girl to a squirmy curious little thing that MUST touch EVERYTHING you walk by.  She did this a little before, but now has gone to new extremes!  She reaches for things that are clearly out of her reach and now does this excited-hyperventilating breathing thing when she wants something.  She reaches her hands out for it so you know where to go so she can touch or hold whatever has caught this little girls eyes!

Addie loves playing on the floor. One of her favorite toys is now her little ball that she got for Easter.  She has now learned how to roll it back and forth with you.  It is SO fun and she gets so excited while you are playing.  It is amazing to watch her learn new things with such excitement!  It was also reported to me (from Alice, our sitter) that she was clapping her hands with the kids last week while she was there.  We have yet to see it at home (figures) but she will clap her feet together! I also find it amazing for the one day per week she goes to the sitter how much she learns from all the kiddos there!!

Here she is playing on the floor with Grandpa!  This is actually the house we will be moving into in a couple of months!

As you can see in this next picture...we are working on that other top tooth.  She is full of slobber right now.  Some days I think that I can see it trying to peek its way through and others I can not see it.  Once she gets this one in she will have four teeth already!  As you can also see in the picture her hair is getting longer!  I can NOT wait until she has long hair and I get to do it for her!
As for eating...Addison enjoys most of her foods!  We have been trying more fruits now and she really enjoys those, other than the texture of some of them!  Especially peaches and pears.  They have more of a sandy texture so she makes really funny faces when she is eating them!  She still eats her veggies like a champ and loves, loves, LOVES her butternut squash and corn!  Today we attempted eating some pieces of banana, but struggled with it.  She had a very difficult time getting that sticky banana off her tray and when she finally did she had a hard time getting into her mouth because it was sticking to her hand...lol!  But our little Addison was persistent and finally got the banana into her mouth only to really not know what to do with it other than gag on it.  Guess we will keep working on that!

Momma's thoughts...
I have also thought about what I would like to do with my weekly postings.  It seems like doing it for 52 weeks may get a little much, but I have decided that I will do it anyway!  It will be nice to look back at a week-by-week report when Addison is older.  I will continue until she is ONE year old because so much goes on in that first year of life!  I already have fun looking back at old posts and seeing where she was.  It is amazing how busy you get and how much you forget in such a short time!

I am also happy to report that drying up was a LOT easier than anticipated!  I did it slowly and pumped whenever I became uncomfortable.  I would go longer and longer between pumpings and pretty soon I did not feel uncomfortable at all!  Yay!!  I will now have the summer to enjoy the weather and not have to worry about hauling that darn machine everywhere I go!  We have been doing well with the frozen milk and are still just working on the stash here at our house.  We have not even touched the milk at my parent's and Dan's parent's houses.  We should be good to go until we switch to cows milk at 1 year!

Thanks for stopping by! Everyone enjoy their week!!

Spring has Sprung!

This weekend was opening of camping season and we headed to our camper to fully enjoy this beautiful weekend!  We had lots more going on with Addie camping with us this year.  Our camper (just like our house) has been taken over by our little Addie!

Here are some pictures I wanted to share from this weekend...

Grandma and Addie reading her book.

Max also came to the camper with us this weekend.  We went for a walk and our little helper insisted he push Addie on our walk.  What a great little Uncle he is!!

Addison's first campfire!  She loved to sit there and watch the fire with Grandpa!

It's a given...Max comes camping with us...and we go mini-golfing!

We returned home from the camper today and had to go out and feed Max's chicks.  Addie loved to watch them, but really did not like the thought of actually touching them!  Such a momma's girl!

After we were done looking at the chickens we took a ride in her new swing.  She loved it!

We hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend!!

Addie did a great job during her pictures after she warmed up to Nichole and the giant camera.  And don't you just love her outfit??  Spent way too much money on it, but I am thinking it was WELL worth it!
