Weekend Update...

January 25, 2010

Well, another busy weekend here at the Garbes’!!  On Friday Dan, Addie, and I had to run some errands that were long over-due!  So of course while we were in Charles City we went to eat at our favorite restaurant, Plaza Mexico!  Dan’s parents met us there so that they could see Addison since they were not going to see her over the weekend.

On Saturday my mom and I went shopping while Addison stayed back with Uncle Steve and Uncle Max.  We didn’t want to take her out in the rain.  Mom and I decided to go to a consignment store that is in Waterloo called Two 4 Tots.  It was a great store!!  It is all second hand clothes for VERY cheap!  The things that I got Addie were still in great condition as well.  I love when I am able to buy for Addie like this.  She isn’t able to stay in her clothes for very long and it is nice to know you didn’t spend a whole lot on them!  I can’t wait for garage sales this summer!! Of course we didn’t just stop at this store!  We stopped at the mall and a couple of other stores a found even more for Addie!  There were a LOT of sales on winter stuff so we got a Columbia snow suite for next year and found her a little pair of Nike Shox which may not fit her until next year either!!  They are so cute!  We also found clothes that were on clearance (she really didn’t need ANY more, but I couldn’t resist)!!
On Saturday night we were having my family over for supper to celebrate my dad’s birthday.  Mom and I got home later than we had planned (imagine that), so my absolutely wonderful husband started supper for us!  He cooked just about everything that night.  What a man!!  We grilled since the weather wasn’t too bad and it had stopped raining by then.  Grilled food in the winter always tastes great!  We had a great time, but all of us were pretty tired on Saturday night.

On Sunday Addie and I headed to church while Dan was at work.  Addie always enjoys the music at church, and this music was LOUD!!  When we got home from church Dan was home from work and we spent the rest of the day as a family watching football.  Of course Dan was so happy when the Vikes lost!  I was also able to get Addison’s baby book all up to date!  I also got all her pictures in albums and thought to myself the entire time that I take way too many pictures!
Today it is another crappy winter day and travel is not advised for most of our area.  Addie and I decided to stay in today.  This kind of weather only makes me want summer to come even quicker!  Dan was home for his usual 3 hour lunch break so we got to spend some time with him too.  We finally put up some Uppercase Living I have had sitting around since before Addison was born!  It always feels good to get little things like that accomplished!
Tomorrow is mommy’s day!  Addie has to go to daycare while I see a few clients and do some grocery shopping!  I think I may take some time to go through clothes as well.  I have lost so much weight that I don’t fit into a lot of my jeans any more so I am going to pack them away.  I also have to go through Addison’s clothes again and pack away what doesn’t fit her.  We have already filled one tub and are on our second!  She grows way too fast!
I included just a few pictures that I took yesterday.  The top on is just of her sitting on the couch.  She is getting really good about sitting up with some support behind her.  She used to fall forward all the time!  The bottom picture is right after I got her ready for bed.  While we were shopping this weekend I got her some of those rings and she just loves them.  She always has them in her mouth!!  I hope that everyone stays safe in this nasty weather.  Have a great night!

Rolling in the New Decade!!

Well, we had a very eventful day yesterday!  As I spoke about in an earlier blog we had Addison’s doctor appt. yesterday and last night we had family come over to help celebrate the new year!
Addie’s appt. went…well lets just say okay!  She is doing great, gaining weight like she should, and doing everything else a little 3 month old should be doing by now. That was the good news!  Now for the not so good part of the day…SHOTS :( We seen the nurse and the doctor and were waiting for the nurse to come back in, when Addie finally fell asleep. It took the office a long time to get back in with the shots! At one point I had someone pop their head in and tell me that they didn’t forget about me!  So they finally arrived with the shots and had me lay her on the table. I again had to hold her arms down (but at least this time her eyes were closed!). She had two shots, one in each leg.  The nurses gave them to her at the same time, but that didn’t make Addie any happier.  She wailed for a good 15 min. before we left the office and of course I am crying too, because Addie is just NOT a fussy baby, so I felt REALLY bad.  Poor girl.  She was good the rest of the night but was up every 3 hours last night.  I had forgotten how exhausting it was to get up that often!  She seems to be doing okay today.  We will see how it goes!
So to roll in the new year last night we had family over to celebrate.  We had a lot of fun and as usual Addie was the hit of the party!!  We had her in her jumperoo and she is absolutely loving that thing.  This time we put a book under her so she could reach!  She is so darn cute in that thing!  I often find myself trying to run the camera and video camera at the same time so that I can capture these moments!  Addie didn’t make it to midnight (only to about her normal bedtime at 10:30!) but I did, which is very surprising!! We didn’t get to bed to about 2am because we had to clean up before we went to bed and then I had to pump.  So needless to say we slept in this morning!!
Here is a bunch of pictures I took last night to share with our family and friends!!

I keep telling Dan that we need a bigger house!! Here is a few people sitting in the living room.  Max is goofing around as usual.  Oh and look at Grandpa Russ, who is in the back feeding Addie her bottle.  What a great Grandpa he is!!!

Here is more of us in the kitchen.  As you can tell we had quite a bit to clean up after everyone left!! It seems to be that every time we get together with my family we have way too much food!!

Here is Addie with my mom (Grandma Jen)! She is starting to sit up very well and holding her head extremely well.  Funny that she isn’t checking out the hat at this point.  She would look at you like you were crazy when you were wearing it!

Here is Addie in her famous JUMPEROO!! Doesn’t she have the most beautiful smile.
Notice in that background that I still have to take down our tree.  Yuck, I hate un-decorating!!

Like I said, “the hit of the party!”
Aunt Vicky and Grandma Jen playing with Addie!!

Addie always has her fist in her mouth.  She used take a pacifier, but has now moved on to her fist and will not take the pacifier any more!  Here she is attempting to get both of them in her mouth!

This year we have decided to make new years resolutions! Dan and I are both agreeing that we need to get into shape! After gaining 65 lbs. when I was pregnant with Addie, I have now lost 75 lbs!!! So now I need to maintain that and tone my body (especially my baby gut…lol)!!  When I was pregnant with Addie and continuing now, I have been writing a journal for her to have when she is older. So another one of my resolutions if to not let that get behind!!  And since the third member of our family can not speak for herself (and I am the one who writes the blog) Addie’s new years resolution is going to be that her first words be “MAMA”  hehehe!!!
Everyone have a great new year!!

A whole lot of nothing...

A whole lot of nothing… is what happened at our house yesterday!!  We slept in yesterday morning because of our rough night with Addison, just to get up and bum around the house all day.  I love to have those days every now and then.  Dan, Addie, and I all took a nap on the couch in the afternoon and last night we watched the new Harry Potter.  Or should I say watched what we could of the new Harry Potter, because Addie felt the need to talk through the whole movie…lol!!! It was the cutest thing!! She’s starting to act like her Grandpa Ron (who does the same thing)!!!! This morning we woke up to NO POWER!! GRRRR… But it is back on now and all is good.  Was a little frantic for awhile because I hadn’t pumped yet, but about an hour later it came back on.  THANK GOD!!!
Today we have Dan’s cousin Spencer’s wedding to go to in Waverly.  It should be a lot of fun! Although I am not too thrilled to take Addie out in this frigid cold weather!
Hope everyone has a great day and stays warm!! Here is a picture of Addie to end the blog….
