Little diva loves her glasses!
She loves reading books. We read at LEAST 20 books per day. Some of them we read more than once, and she has her favorites. We usually read right away in the morning. This is when we do our scripture readings and devotions from a children book. We also read before her nap, random times throughout the day, and before bed. We continue to go to story hour on Friday. She loves going there and playing with all the other kids. We check out a few books each week for Addie to read as well!
Reading to daddy before bed. She loves to read to us...in what seems like a foreign language!
She is also getting really good at identifying things in her books and pictures. She knows the main animals when she sees them and other random things that she is able to identify. She has one book where the mom is pouring milk and she always yells MILK at that page! Addie has also began to point at herself when you show her a picture of herself. The only problem is she says "that" when she is pointing to herself. Dan and I think it is because we ask her "who is that?" when we point to the picture.
Talk, talk, talk...she communicates with us SO well. Here is a list of the words she says often (without repeating) that Dan and I can recall from the top of our head: Mom, Dad, book, Emma, woof-woof, kitty, duck, cow, that (along with pointing her finger), milk, juice, cheese, snack, cracker, nana (banana), yum, no, done, Elmo, Big Bird, shoes, socks, bath, night-night, hair, toes, eyes, nose, monk (monkey), pretty, Jon, Mike, Max, Grandma, Grandpa, baby, hi, bye, football, up, down, 'mon (come on, as she takes your finger), glasses, kick, ball, caca (color), and one of her new favorites, mine! Apparently everything in this house is hers! I probably forgot some, but these are ones she uses often!
Going to the grocery store is fun with Addie. She likes to name foods as you go along. The foods listed in her words she can name when you point to them, but she also LOVES to repeat the words to other foods while you are walking. Such a great learning experience for her!
She loves to dance and sing. Her favorite songs to sing are Bringing Home My Baby Bumble Bee, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Five Little Ducks, ABC'S, and This Old Man. She loves doing all the actions with you! She will really dance to anything and enjoys spinning in circles and doing this little prance. I am thinking about ordering Zumba for myself so that Addie and I can work out together every day! Sounds like a win/win situation to me!!
Addie has been eating really well lately. In fact she actually finished her ENTIRE plate the other day! I don't think this has ever happened! She is constantly asking for bananas and grapes. Those seem to be her favorites. She will always eat her fruit, but is iffy on her veggies and the main dish. The other day Daddy gave her some ketchup to dip her chicken in and she ate it all! I think she really just liked that she was able to dip her chicken, but she ate it ALL, and a little ketchup never hurt anyone!
Evidence of her finished plate!
She does so well with her silverware and really does not require any help for eating anymore! Last night we made peanut butter and jelly crescent rolls! They were delicious. Last week we tried PB&J for the first time and Addie absolutely loved it, so I thought we would give these a try. They went over well!
She needs to know where mom is at all times. If she finds that I left the room I hear her yelling at the top of her lungs, "MOM, MOM, MOM" until she finds me. As soon as she sees me she says "Hi!" and then proceeds to walk away!
She is learning the difference between hot and cold. She does really well when things are hot and will tell me. She is also learning up and down, but a lot up the time she combines the words and creates the word "dup".
Addie is a huge goof. She is so much like her father! For example: Each and every time Addie farts, she laughs and laughs about it! It is the funniest thing to watch.
She is a clean freak (just like her mommy)! Loves to take a bath, wash her hands, and takes her wipes and wipes things down all the time!
She even gets to color in her bath! She loves her bath crayons!
She is sleeping wonderfully! Goes to bed around 8pm and is up at 8am! She is moving to one nap per day. Sometimes she needs two. I am trying to feed her lunch earlier so that she can get down for her nap after lunch. It seems to be working well.
She loves to sit up in her new booster seat and color. We color several times per day and she asks to do it all the time. She is so good at holding the crayon. We work on our colors while we color and she loves to pull them out and have me tell her what color it is.
Addie goes on the potty when she wants. I just ask every now and then and when she wants she will run to the bathroom and get her seat on the toilet. It has been less frequent these past few weeks.
We are up to TEN teeth! She has all eight front teeth (four on top and four on bottom) and she has all four of her first molars! She loves brushing her teeth and sometimes does it three times per day!
She is very independent and likes to do as much as she can on her own. This includes trying to get her clothes and shoes on! She loves to help mommy around the house and really enjoys it when you ask her to do something. Yesterday we mopped all the floors and Addie had to grab the mop and help me out.
Her favorite toys seem to be her baby, slide, car, and her farm animal see and say. She really seems to rotate toys and what she plays with one week, may be different the next. She LOVES watching Elmo. Loves it so much that we really have to limit the t.v. that she is watching. I let her watch Elmo in the morning when it is on t.v. and usually let her watch a recording in the evening. She will sit and watch an entire episode, usually right up next to the t.v.
Taking care of baby. She comes up to me and tells me "shhhh.." when baby cries! She also tells me "shhhh.." when she wants to take a nap, even when I'm not saying anything at all! She has to get baby's milk ready and mommy is constantly going to the fridge to pretend to fill up her bottle!
Playing with her Potsy. She likes to cook mommy and daddy food...
...and feed it to us or eat it herself! This is actually corn, but she calls it her nana (banana)! I guess I can see the resemblance!
The classic fall into her toy box...
She is up to so much at 16 months! I can only imagine what the next few months will be bringing. All I know, is that Addison has been such a blessing to our lives and Dan and I could not be happier!! Happy 16 months to our beautiful little girl!!
