Addie is now half-way through her terrible two's. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how fast this little girl is growing. She has been the greatest blessing in our lives, and we can not imagine life without her. Honestly, it would be pretty boring! Here is what Addie is up to these days (and a few pictures)...
~ Addie is now up to 33.3 lbs according to our scale. She is 36.5 inches tall, she has grown so much, as you can see we started our wall when she was 6 months old! We are wearing 4T clothes, some 3T and size 8 shoes! Even her hair is growing like a weed. You can't really tell how long it is with all her curls, but when we give her a bath her hair is half way down her back!
~ She loves counting, singing her ABC'S, and really just singing and dancing in general! She loves being the center of attention, and the louder the better...according to Addie, anyway! We generally don't go a night where we don't see Addie singing and dancing in front of us. A few nights ago, she even built a microphone from her Lego's to sing!
~ She enjoys coloring and does a very good job attempting to stay in the lines. I pick her up from daycare with dozens of pictures colored! Alice our daycare provider told me one day that the older girl were upset with Addie because she colored neater then they did. They are about a year older than Addie. Funny what they will find to argue about at daycare! She has know her colors for quite some time, but has really mastered them in the past 6 months.
~ She dresses herself...when she wants to. It depends where you are going. Daycare/Grandma's house -- not so much dressing herself going on those mornings. Sunday School/outside/fun things -- she has herself ready in no time! When we are home, she changes her clothes a few times per night. She usually gets quiet for awhile and I find her putting on new clothes.
~ She has been potty trained during the day for some time, but we continue to work on nights. My goal for Addie is to have her go an entire week with no wet diapers in the morning. When she is able to do that, we can go with no diapers. She wakes up dry more times per week than wet, so we are making progress. One night she downright refused to wear her diaper, so I let her go without (too tired to fight that battle) -- and she woke up dry! Like I said, we are getting CLOSER!
~ Loves telling knock-knock jokes. Every time she tells them, "apple" is always at the door. She does come up some good responses. Examples: apple crisp, apple pie, apple juice...and sometimes she comes up with some off the wall stuff!
~ This girl loves to read. We read about a dozen books at night before bed, and a lot of times she wants to read the book to us. She has several books memorized by heart.
~ She talks in full sentences and it isn't very often that we can't figure out what she is telling us. There are times it may take us a few minutes, but we eventually get it! She is coming up with new words and phrases all the time.
~ She loves to tell stories and has a great memory. She will tell you what happened at daycare that day, or what she did. You don't get anything past this little girl!
~ She has a house FULL of toys. She has completely dominated our house with her stuff! She plays with all sorts of toys, depending on her mood that day. She has a wonderful imagination and is coming up with new ways of playing with her toys all the time.
~ She is a great eater...if you exclude the veggie department. She definitely gets this from her daddy! She will literally spit out a vegetable if it goes into her mouth. It's funny, because when she was little that is all she would eat! She does eat some veggies, but not too darn many! She loves yogurt, fruit, oatmeal (which she calls eatmeal), pasta, meat, and any kind of cookie she could possibly get her little hands on!
~ She is a very independent little girl. We hear the expression, "Addie do it."quite often in this house!
~ We still take about an hour and a half to two hour nap each day. We take it in the afternoon after lunch, and we are a bear if we don't get a nap! She has CRAZY hair when she wakes up...
~ We attempt to stick to a routine as much as we can. Daddy is in charge of her in the mornings and they have their own little routine. Dan says that she hates getting dressed in the morning and he is told "it's not funny" quite often! She still spends 1 1/2 days at daycare, 2 days with Grandma Jude, and the other 1 1/2 days with Grandma Dawn. (So grateful for family!) Takes a nap in the afternoon, bath after supper, and night time is usually around 9pm. We read about a dozen books before bed, brush our teeth, say our prayers, and then she attempts EVERY excuse not to go to bed! (drink of water, have to go potty, etc.) She goes to bed on her own (no more laying with her until she falls asleep!) and wakes up when Daddy gets in the house.
~ Addie tends to come up with some of the funniest things. I keep telling myself that I NEED to write stuff down, but forget and can't remember when I go to blog! One night during prayers, she says, "Thank you Jesus for chocolate, milk, coffee, orange juice, and apple juice." I didn't know where the coffee part came from since no one in the this house drinks it, so I asked Addie. She told me that Grandma Jude LOVES coffee! She has wonderful manners and uses them often, but she can also be somewhat bossy. We are working on that!
Dan and I talk all the time about how fun this stage is with Addie. She is such entertainment and each day brings laughter. We are so very blessed to have this little two and a half year old be part of our lives!
