Mother's day projects...

On Saturday we were working away at our Mother's Day gifts this year.  I love that Addie is getting old enough to create her own magic.  She loves to paint, so painting we did.  We got my mom a jewelry box and Dan's mom and bird house.  Addie had a blast, wanting to paint them again when they dried!

Addie is a very artistic little girl.  Notice she does not mix paints, but precisely (for a 2yr old) covers every inch!  She even stays in the lines very well for her age when she colors!  She does have some of her mother in her!

She is focused...

When we got to Grandma Dawns birdhouse, Addie found the big sponge, and things got a little more interesting!
We had a blast!  Had to wait to post until both Grandma's got their gift.  We still have a flower pot to paint for great grandma!  Mother's day post coming!!

Daddy's lil" helper...

Addie loves to go out and help Dan with anything on the farm.  He often is milking cows with Addie on his shoulders (I really need to snap a picture of this).  Last weekend Addie woke up from her nap and was just in her undies.  I took her pants off because she had stuff all over her shorts (imagine that in a toddler).  She came out of her room and sat with me for a few minutes then disappeared.  When she walked back to me, this is what I saw...

She walked in and said, "Okay, I'm ready to go and help Daddy!"  I couldn't help but laugh.  How cute is this?  She didn't feel that there was anything wrong with this.  Apparently all you need is boots to go out in the barn.  Pants are just an option!!

One of my favorite pics.  I love these two!!

Spring!

The past few weeks we have been enjoying time in the wonderful spring weather.  Any day we pull in the driveway and it is nice and sunny out, Addie says "It's a nice sunny day, we have to play outside, mom!"  Needless to say, supper is then a rush to get done, but our little girl is happy and that is all that matters!  Daddy usually saves me so I can go in and make supper.

Last weekend we went to the park for a few hours to play.  Addie is getting so brave will all the equipment and no slide or climb scares this little girl (although it makes momma pretty nervous!) We arrived home about five minutes before a hail storm hit.  Here are some photos from our day.

Okay, maybe a more than a "few" pictures, but I love to take them!  So grateful for this beautiful weather!!  We have a busy couple weeks ahead with Uncle Jon graduating!

Addie is two and a HALF!!!

Addie is now half-way through her terrible two's.  I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how fast this little girl is growing.  She has been the greatest blessing in our lives, and we can not imagine life without her.  Honestly, it would be pretty boring!  Here is what Addie is up to these days (and a few pictures)...

~ Addie is now up to 33.3 lbs according to our scale.  She is 36.5 inches tall, she has grown so much, as you can see we started our wall when she was 6 months old!  We are wearing 4T clothes, some 3T and size 8 shoes!  Even her hair is growing like a weed.  You can't really tell how long it is with all her curls, but when we give her a bath her hair is half way down her back!

~ She loves counting, singing her ABC'S, and really just singing and dancing in general!  She loves being the center of attention, and the louder the better...according to Addie, anyway!  We generally don't go a night where we don't see Addie singing and dancing in front of us.  A few nights ago, she even built a microphone from her Lego's to sing!

~ She enjoys coloring and does a very good job attempting to stay in the lines.  I pick her up from daycare with dozens of pictures colored!  Alice our daycare provider told me one day that the older girl were upset with Addie because she colored neater then they did.  They are about a year older than Addie.  Funny what they will find to argue about at daycare!  She has know her colors for quite some time, but has really mastered them in the past 6 months.

~ She dresses herself...when she wants to.  It depends where you are going.  Daycare/Grandma's house -- not so much dressing herself going on those mornings.  Sunday School/outside/fun things -- she has herself ready in no time!  When we are home, she changes her clothes a few times per night.  She usually gets quiet for awhile and I find her putting on new clothes.

~ She has been potty trained during the day for some time, but we continue to work on nights.  My goal for Addie is to have her go an entire week with no wet diapers in the morning.  When she is able to do that, we can go with no diapers.  She wakes up dry more times per week than wet, so we are making progress.  One night she downright refused to wear her diaper, so I let her go without (too tired to fight that battle) -- and she woke up dry!  Like I said, we are getting CLOSER!

~ Loves telling knock-knock jokes.  Every time she tells them, "apple" is always at the door.  She does come up some good responses.  Examples: apple crisp, apple pie, apple juice...and sometimes she comes up with some off the wall stuff!

~ This girl loves to read.  We read about a dozen books at night before bed, and a lot of times she wants to read the book to us.  She has several books memorized by heart.

~ She talks in full sentences and it isn't very often that we can't figure out what she is telling us.  There are times it may take us a few minutes, but we eventually get it!  She is coming up with new words and phrases all the time.

~ She loves to tell stories and has a great memory.  She will tell you what happened at daycare that day, or what she did.  You don't get anything past this little girl!

~ She has a house FULL of toys.  She has completely dominated our house with her stuff!  She plays with all sorts of toys, depending on her mood that day.  She has a wonderful imagination and is coming up with new ways of playing with her toys all the time.

~ She is a great eater...if you exclude the veggie department.  She definitely gets this from her daddy!  She will literally spit out a vegetable if it goes into her mouth.  It's funny, because when she was little that is all she would eat!  She does eat some veggies, but not too darn many!  She loves yogurt, fruit, oatmeal (which she calls eatmeal), pasta, meat, and any kind of cookie she could possibly get her little hands on!

~ She is a very independent little girl.  We hear the expression, "Addie do it."quite often in this house!

~ We still take about an hour and a half to two hour nap each day.  We take it in the afternoon after lunch, and we are a bear if we don't get a nap!  She has CRAZY hair when she wakes up...

~ We attempt to stick to a routine as much as we can.  Daddy is in charge of her in the mornings and they have their own little routine.  Dan says that she hates getting dressed in the morning and he is told "it's not funny" quite often! She still spends 1 1/2 days at daycare, 2 days with Grandma Jude, and the other 1 1/2 days with Grandma Dawn.  (So grateful for family!)  Takes a nap in the afternoon, bath after supper, and night time is usually around 9pm.  We read about a dozen books before bed, brush our teeth, say our prayers, and then she attempts EVERY excuse not to go to bed!  (drink of water, have to go potty, etc.) She goes to bed on her own (no more laying with her until she falls asleep!) and wakes up when Daddy gets in the house.

~ Addie tends to come up with some of the funniest things.  I keep telling myself that I NEED to write stuff down, but forget and can't remember when I go to blog!  One night during prayers, she says, "Thank you Jesus for chocolate, milk, coffee, orange juice, and apple juice."  I didn't know where the coffee part came from since no one in the this house drinks it, so I asked Addie.  She told me that Grandma Jude LOVES coffee!  She has wonderful manners and uses them often, but she can also be somewhat bossy.  We are working on that!

Dan and I talk all the time about how fun this stage is with Addie.  She is such entertainment and each day brings laughter.  We are so very blessed to have this little two and a half year old be part of our lives!

No. 44: BOWLING!!

On Friday night, we packed up Addie and Max to go bowling!!  Addie talked about it ALL day Friday, and it took everyone telling her that we had to wait for Max to get out of school to go.  On the way to the bowling alley Addie asked Max what color of ball he was going to get, because she was getting a RED ball!

Addie loved that she got special shoes!  They were a little big, but they worked!

Uncle Max showing off his bowling skills...even though mom had the highest score! (Just had to point that out!)

She loved bowling, but when they turned on the cosmic bowling and had lights with fun music, dancing was more fun!

The two little bowlers...

Photo attempt...Addie really wanted down to dance.  Wish I had half of her energy!
Bowling was a GREAT experience with Addie.  I am sure we will be doing it again!

A few random pics...

Sharing a few random pictures from the past few weeks..  Addie really IS something else, and you never know what you may get out of her when you attempt to take a picture.  I hope for the best,  usually end up getting something like this....
(guess it's better than a frown!)

Driving naked...apparently more comfortable that way!

Addie and Jasmyn at a birthday party.  They love playing together!

Addie loves her babies and takes care of them all day.

When it's time for her to go to bed, baby goes to bed right along with her!

Addie attempted to convince me that it was raining outside so she could take her umbrella...

Semi-Wordless Wednesday...

I asked Addie to get her pajamas for her bath.  Apparently she also decided to undress for her bath...and then was distracted by a good book!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentines Day...as best shared by our little Addison!

To celebrate Valentines day we worked really hard on our Valentines to take to day care.  Addie had her first use of scissors and did a great job!

Here are a few of the finished products with the silly straws.  If you remember, we used these ladybugs for Addie's 1st birthday.  I had several pieces that I cut out left over, so we put them together.  This time with hearts!

We also made valentine cupcakes.  Addie loved putting sprinkles on them!

Oh, then mommy got her Valentine present.  Addie actually noticed them before I did.  Mainly because there was a balloon attached for her as well.  She was more than thrilled with the balloon, and when I handed it to her she said, "This is the best balloon EVER!"

and Addie's Valentine gift...
She says she "loves" him!

So much to be thankful for this Valentines Day!  I feel so LOVED!
