Family Trip to the Water Park!!

Today we took a trip to the water park.  To make the trip even better -- it was a free trip to the water park!  My mom's work had their fun day, so we went down to Lost Island and has LOTS of FUN!  We had perfect 95 degree weather, but along with it came the SPF 85 sunscreen for little Addie so she didn't get toasted!  Addie was unsure of the water at first, but after a few minutes warmed up to the idea of swimming...or should I say, crawling in the water!  Our first time at the water park was a success!  Addie had so much fun that she was asleep before we were out of the parking lot!

Chillin' with Grandpa...

Addie's first reaction to the water...not so good!

Holding her hands down to keep her sunglasses on!  Such a cutie.

Crawling in the water.  At one point she kept going over to another little baby about her age to take his toys from him!  She wasn't too happy that I kept taking her away.

She loved dipping her nose in the water, until we realize that she started sucking the water too!

Our little swimmer!

What a great day at the water park with the family!!

41 Weeks...

We are drawing near that 52 week mark!  I truly can NOT believe how fast this year has gone for our family.  So much of our lives revolve around Addison these days and we are LOVING every minute of it!

Addie loves to walk with us as we are holding her hands, but you let go of one hand and down she goes to crawl!  She is a little frightened yet, but was able to completely let go of her toy box the other day and stand for about ten seconds!  The toy then became too distracting and down she went.  I don't even think Addie realized she had done it because her toys are just too interesting!

She is all over the house and has even tried to escape outside.  She crawled to the storm door which was not latched right and she started going outside like it was a normal thing!  I stood there and watched her hold the door open, crawling outside, saying "Emma. Emma, Emma" the entire time!  Crazy girl!  Don't worry -- there is a deck or patio out of all our door -- no steps!

We have finally fell into a great routine in our house (only to have it all messed up this week because I am teaching vacation bible school and don't get home with Addie until almost 9pm!).  Addie wakes up at about 7am each morning, some mornings closer to 7:30, which is fine with me!  I get up when Addie gets up, so the longer she sleeps -- the longer I sleep!  We change her diaper and have a little playtime before eating breakfast at about 8:00am.  She eats a serving of fruit and either egg yolk, oatmeal, toast, pancakes (her favorite), or just dry cereal.  We really have not found anything she does not like!  She takes a nap around 10:30am for about an hour or so.  At noon we eat lunch.  She has a serving of fruit and veggie and a form of protein.  She takes her second nap at around 2-3pm. She eats just about the same for supper as she does for lunch, which she eats at about 6:00pm.  After supper she plays for awhile, takes a bath at about 7:30pm.  We then get her pajamas on, brush her little chompers, read her a story and feed her a bottle, then put her to bed at about 8:30.  She is doing well at going to bed on her own again!  Thank goodness!  I am hopeful that after this week we can fall right back into this routine!

She continues to ignore the word "no" and it seems that she only ignores it from me!  My grandma watches her and says "no" -- Addie listens.  Daddy tells her "no" -- Addie listens.  Mommy tells her "no" -- Addie continues to do whatever it was that she was doing!  I don't understand...  I then try to evaluate what I am telling her "no" over, making sure I am not over-using the word.  Here are the main things I tell Addie "no" when she is doing them:  standing against our curio cabinet pounding on the glass, playing with the plug-in covers, biting the rug, and her favorite one.....putting her hands in the VCR.  Things that I think she should not be doing.  Things that she does EVERYDAY!!  I don't think I over-use the word.  I don't know what the answer is, it certainly isn't NO!!

Her favorite word is Emma.  She gets up in the morning asking about Emma.  She literally will say her name until you take Addie to Emma!  She continues to call every dog she sees Emma and goes crazy when she sees them!  If she is eating in her highchair and Emma is not by the patio door, she will ask for Emma.  When she is playing on the floor and doesn't see her by the door, she will ask for Emma!  Don't get me wrong.  She loves to say mama and dada too, just not as often!

Here are some picutres from our week!

Little Miss Innocent!

If you look closely you can see that we finally fit a ponytail in her her!  Dan said that she looked like a sumo wrestler, but I thought it was adorable!

Uncle Max reading Addie a book!  She loves reading books.  She turns the pages for you and sometimes will start talking along with you!

After supper that night.  She was obviously ready for bed early!  Max wears this little stinker out!

On her way to her toys...she stopped to let mommy snap a picture!

Watching the birds in the window.

Our new fashion!  I love painting her little toes!  The trick to doing this is to stick her in her highchair so she can not see what you are doing!  I couldn't get a very good picture, but I think you can kind of see her little flowers we put on her big toes!  SO CUTE!!

And we sum up the night with a nakey picture!!  Addison's doctor told me that if she wears bug spray we have go kind of rinse her off before her bath, so we decided to just give her a shower that night.  She LOVED it.  In the picture she could hardly wait to get in and kept trying to crawl in herself!  I think she thought she was pretty BIG stuff!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great night.

Addie looks like her daddy!

Do you think she looks at all like her daddy?  We were going through some things of Dan's when he was younger and came across his 9 month photos.  I have a daughter that looks nothing like her mommy, and completely resembles her daddy! Take a look!

Last weekend at my cousin's birthday party I even had some extended family ask me how it felt to have a daughter that looked nothing like me!  She told me that she looked just like her dad!

Just to prove this further...here is a picture of me at about 6-9 months (My mom couldn't remember)!  The quality is not that great because it was just a wallet size that I had.  I think all Addie received from my genetic pool were my eyes and definitely the chunkiness!

Either way -- We are blessed with a beautiful baby!

40 weeks!!

Wow...40 weeks old today!  Seems like such a big number!  We have had a great week here at the Garbes household and Addie certainly has kept us plenty busy!  I am certain that I spend 99% of Addie's awake time keeping her out of trouble!  Today I was trying to get ready to leave and she was in the kitchen emptying out my cupboards.  I just let her go to it!  The terrible mother I am!  I had to get ready so we could meet Laura for lunch!  In the end I think it took me longer to clean everything up!  Oh well, at least Addie had a blast doing it!

Not too much new going on with Addie this week.  She gets better and better each day scooting along the furniture and she seems to go a little further all the time.  Still not daring enough to let go of that furniture yet!  Dan and I both agree that once she starts to walk we are really in trouble!

Addie and I had a busy day together today!  We went to Waterloo picked up my bridemaid dress, did a little shopping, and met my friend Laura for lunch!  Addie slept all the way there and back!  When I got home I decided that I needed to take some pictures for her 40 week b-day and ended up capturing many of Addie's every-day emotions!  So here they are to share with you!

Her goofy face.  She is doing her high-pitched squeal in this pic!

Mad....

Definitely a SASSY look!  I'm thinking we may get this more often in the future!

and HAPPY!!  Which is how we see Addie the most!  She is truly a happy babe!  She has really been using those two fingers for teething lately!  Can't seem to keep them out of her mouth!

Here are some other pictures taken this week...
It was on this day that our house looked like Grand Central Station.  I think we had everyone and their Grandma here that day!  Including us!  At one point there were so many people here that our driveway lined with tractors and wagons because they had to wait for others to get out of their way.  You couldn't even leave the driveway!  Addie enjoyed watching everyone from her wagon!

Crawlin' to get mommy!

Princess Addison!  Her cousin gave her this sleeping bag!  Works great to lay her down to eat her bottle in and if she falls asleep she is already nicely tucked in!

Last, but not least....a VIDEO!!  I know, finally.  This one includes crawling and her saying "Emma!"  We were on the couch and I actually got the camera out because she was talking to me and it was like she was SO telling a story!  It was so cute, but as soon as I turned on my camera Grandpa Ron pulled in the driveway.  Our dog Emma barks every time someone pulls in, and Addie has learned that!  So she had to check out and see what was going on.  At the end of the video you see her slowly crawl to the patio doors to check things out!  Oh...and excuse the house, we STILL have boxes to unpack...UGH!!

Thanks everyone for visiting!  Have a fabulous night and enjoy the rest of the week.  We sure plan to!!

Happy 4th!

Addison's first 4th of July!  I love celebrating her first holidays with her!  On Saturday we went to the parade in Charles City with Grandpa Russ, Grandma Jen, Uncle Max, and our friends Kelsi and Autumn (and Kelsi's brother)!!  Addie had a blast playing with little Autumn.  She had so much fun that she finally crashed in Grandpa's arms!  After the parade we did a little shopping and then hung out with Daddy at home!
 ----------
On a sad note...our puppy passed away on Saturday.  I don't really know what to say.  I could not get him to eat, and when he would he would, he couldn't keep it down.  The vet thought that there was more wrong than any of us knew, and it was really out of our hands.  He is in a special place now, and I am thankful he was in a good home his last days.  We will cherish the few days he spent with us.  RIP buddy.
----------
On Sunday we had a birthday party and grill out for Addie's 2nd cousin Hali.  It is crazy just how fast everyone is growing up!  I remember the day when Hali was born and babysitting her as she grew.  Watching Barney 24/7...still hate Barney to this day!  Thanks for that Hali!!  Happy 13th Birthday!!!

Here are some pictures from our 4th of July weekend!!

Watching the parade...

Sleeping with Grandpa...

It looks as if they are having a serious conversation!  Addison and Autumn really enjoyed their time together!  Kelsi and I are thinking they will be the best of friends when they are older!

Addison making her attempts to get Daddy's glasses!

Lovin' my little Addie bug!

It's hard to get this girl's picture taken with her eyes open!  This is the best we could do!

Here she comes!  Addie is walking to mommy with the help of daddy!  She does not come quietly as you can see in the pictures!

We would like to wish everyone a happy 4th!  Thanks to all who serve our country to give us the freedoms we have today!  A special thanks to our family and friends serving.  We love you!

Love,
Dan, Sarah, and Addison
