So that is what Daddy has been up to!

Rewind a little to about the second week of February, when it was about 50 degrees here!  A heat wave!!  Max came over and we enjoyed a day outside.  We played in the snow and went out to see Dan and the cows.

I will be the first to admit to you that I am a person that ventures outdoors, ONLY when the weather is decent!  When I am asked if I go out and help Dan, I tell them that I am a fair-weather-wife.  Meaning I only go out and help Dan when the weather is nice!!  He was just saying the other day that he can not wait for spring so Addie and I can go out and feed calves again!

Since it was nearly 50 degrees, we decided to play outside!  Addie loves going outside and throws a fit when it is time to come in the house.

I was pulling Addie and Max all over the yard, then Max wanted to pull Addie.  There was just one problem...Addie couldn't sit up in the sled while Max was pulling her!  So she got to go sledding with a lovely view of the sky above!

We went out to see Daddy in the barn, which we have not done very much this winter.  I feel bad, but it us just too cold to drag Addie out there most days.  Dan was so happy that his girls came to see him!  Surprisingly, Addie was not intimidated my the cows at all.  She was petting them and running all around the barn!  She is going to be a natural little farm girl!

Just hoping we get more weather like this SOON!!

a little catching up to do...

I have been a little neglectful to our blog lately.  I apologize...  It has just been one thing after another!!

I posted on Valentines Day that I had strep and and ear infection.  I went about my week, still not feeling the best.  When Friday rolled around I was still running a temperature, and to make things worse, so was Dan AND Addie.  I called the doctor and they had to put me on a different antibiotic, because the strain I had apparently was resistant to what I was on.  So I took those, and here I am today...still sick!!  Although I think I now have what Dan and Addie have!!  Addie has had a terrible cough, which makes her vomit when she coughs too hard.  She is getting better, but still VERY clingy to mommy.  Consequently, my blog posts have been a little lacking.

So here is to a little catching up...

On Saturday night Dan and I were able to have a night to ourselves.  The first one in many months!  It has become so hard with dairy farm life.  There is truly NO time off.  So, for Valentines Day I surprised Dan with a replacement milker for Saturday night so we could go out.  Addie spent the night with Aunt Vicky, Meg, and Maddie and had a blast!  Dan and I went out for supper, did a little shopping, and then out to a movie.  It was a wonderful evening, and we even beat the terrible weather that was headed our way!

Late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, I am really not sure, is when Addie vomited ALL over her Monk.  It was quite the ordeal actually!  She was sick and wanted her Monk, except he stuck really bad! I think she asked for him about 100 times that day!  His tag said to hand wash and not submerge in water.  I didn't know HOW I was possibly going to get that awful smell out!  After posting on Facebook, I had a lot of help from some wonderful mothers.  We had to get Monk clean!  Many moms will understand the importance of a comfort toy and what it does for their children.  I ended up putting him in the wash wrapped in a pillowcase.  Monk came out in one piece, looking just fine!  But, most important of all, smelling great!! A HUGE sigh of relief came from this momma!!

On Sunday, I went to teach my Sunday school class, picked up Addie from my mom and dad's house, and went home!  Addie was whiny from being sick, which would have been a recipe for disaster in church.  Plus, I didn't need her picking up anything else while her immune system was down.  We stayed home the rest of the evening and even made puppy chow.  Daddy had been asking if we could make some for a few days.  Addie had a blast helping mommy and even has to pull up a chair to the counter!

As I get everything gathered, Addie eats Chex...

Checking out the finished product...

I think she approved!!

Not too much else going on.  Just trying to battle these colds and getting Miss Addie to EAT!!  She really has not eaten too much the past few days, but she is doing great with fluids.  I think she is just very congested and doesn't feel like eating.  Thank goodness she can blow her nose so I don't have to use the dreaded boogie sucker!!  She can actually honk and clear her nose very well into a kleenex, it's pretty funny!!  I think she would definitely fit in with the farming community well!

Valentines Day 2011...

It has been quite the Valentines Day for us!  This morning I had a doctor appointment and took Addie to daycare (which usually happens on Monday) to go to my appointment.  I went in because the past few weeks I have had an earache, headaches, fatigue, and then I started getting dizzy when I would get up to quickly.  I thought I better go since I was not getting any better.  Keep in mind that I am feeling pretty decent, minus being really tired all the time.  I go in, and the doctor said that my sinuses are plugged, my ears are so plugged that she can not see my eardrums and my throat looked really sore.  So we did a strep test and irrigated my ears.  Strep test came back positive and once my ears were cleaned she thought that my right ear had an infection in it.  SO I am on antibiotics and ear drops for the next ten days!  Yay for me!!  Now I just have to watch Addie really closely because she can not tell me if her throat hurts, and if she is anything like her mommy and has NO symtoms of strep, this could be really hard!  But I have been carrying this crap for nearly two weeks now!!

So on to happier news of Valentines Day!  Addie took some Elmo valentines to all her friends at daycare and received some herself!  She got some new Elmo pajamas and an Elmo balloon from Grandpa and Grandma G and she got a new puppy, blanket and pillow, and some other goodies from Grandpa and Grandma H, and Max!

Addie worked hard at making a Valentine for Daddy and gave it to him tonight.

Showing Daddy all her hard work and the moo moo's ears!

She also worked hard on making them for the grandparents and Alice her daycare lady.

Tonight she was cuddling with mommy before daddy came in from milking.  She is all about daddy once he gets in!  She loves her daddy!!

To end our day Daddy gave mommy the best home-made card in the world.  It could not have been any better!  He made it from stuff from the barn.  It may have been from lack of planning ahead, but this card means much more to me than any card he could have bought in the store!!  He is such a great husband and daddy.  I could not ask for more!!

A wonderful day spent with the my two Valentines!  Happy Valentines Day to all!!
